Visual Arts Coordinator for Pediatrics & Volunteer Coordinator
Alison started teaching art at Duke Children’s Hospital in 2012, after graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a degree in Psychology. Alison was first a teaching intern for Arts For Life Durham and discovered her passion for helping others express their creativity. In the years that followed, Alison worked as a weekly volunteer until 2016, when she was welcomed as an Arts For Life staff member - first as Program Coordinator and later Program Director of the Durham Chapter. In 2022, Alison joined the Arts & Health at Duke team as the Visual Arts Coordinator for Pediatrics. Alison’s love of art and her desire to improve the hospital experience is apparent in the work that she does providing art opportunities to all pediatrics patients and their families at Duke University Hospital.
